The Cost of Giving Up (and the Real "Secret" Behind My Physique)
Hey Kettlebell Fam!
Last week I didn't send out a newsletter. I had it on my mind, had a couple of notes jotted down and some ideas for what I wanted to write about, but I let life pile up, pushed it to the side, and it never got done. That's on me, and I may have missed a chance to share something that could have connected with one of you.
That missed newsletter got me thinking about a great topic for this week: what happens when you delay the things that matter? And I'm not just talking about fitness, but life. So let's get to it!
Most people don't quit all at once
The truth is, most people don't quit their goals in one exact moment. They delay, put things on pause, and say, "I'll start next week." Then one week turns into two, then a month, then a year.
Before they know it, the version of themselves they wanted to become (fitter, stronger, happier, more fulfilled) is gone. And what's left? Usually regret. Not because they weren't capable of doing it, but because they didn't follow through.
Giving up costs you more than time
The cost of giving up isn't just lost time. It's losing the best part of who you could become. Every time you skip a session, scroll through an opportunity or talk yourself out of starting, you reinforce the idea that maybe you're not the kind of person who does hard things.
But you are, and you can be. Literally anybody can be. You've just got to show up consistently. But that last one, that's the hard part.
"What are you on?"
One question I get asked all the time is, "What are you on?" People think I've got some secret, or that I'm on gear, and that's why I'm in good shape.
The answer is NO, I'm not. I've just been insanely consistent for YEARS. And the truth is, even with "help," you still have to put in the work. I'm always doing the work when no one's watching, even though I share pretty much everything.
That's the truth behind any meaningful change: fitness, business, mindset, all of it. You don't need to be perfect, but you do need to stop giving up on it.
Small steps build momentum
Every time you show up, even in the smallest way, it adds up. Things get easier after you've been doing them for a while. One workout turns into a habit. One email (or post) turns into a business. The momentum builds, and suddenly you're moving toward something real that YOU BUILT just by being consistent.
You're your own worst enemy
Look, I get it. It gets hard. Self-doubt is one of our biggest setbacks, and you're literally your own worst enemy in most situations. You find easy ways out, make up excuses for why you can't, or let other people's words and opinions bring you down.
The thing is, it's YOUR LIFE, not theirs. What you do or don't do doesn't even affect them, but it affects you, and it can change your life.
Do something today
So if you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you've fallen off track, don't wait for Monday and don't wait for motivation. Just do SOMETHING today. Whether that's putting up your first post to promote your business, picking up a weight and starting a fitness routine, or researching something you love that will make your life better, take a step towards bettering yourself.
Do that enough days in a row and you won't just be avoiding regret, you'll be building a life you're actually proud of.
You have the power to change your life in a single moment. So don't wait too long.
